Jason Hanson listed as probable
Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson expressed regret for a bye-week accident that required him to get stitches in his left knee , will be available for Sunday's game against the
Chicago Bears. Hanson is listed as probable and the Lions haven't signed a possible replacement.
Hanson wouldn’t say exactly how he got the “decent little cut” on his knee, but he said characterizations that he was hurt in an ATV accident “conveys something that it’s not.”
After sitting out practice Wednesday, the right-footed Hanson tested his plant leg today, kicking a number of short-range field goals at less than full speed.
He said his knee felt “decent” and “tonight and tomorrow, we’ll be able to tell if I can be up for this week.”
Detroit Lions punter Ryan Donahue was limited in practice after suffering a right quadriceps strain Wednesday while attempting to fill in for Hanson and kick field goals. On Thursday, Donahue was listed as limited in practice. He said he did not punt, but he did hold on Hanson's kicks in the portion of practice open to reporters.
Defensive tackle Sammie Hill and safety Louis Delmas, who was added to the injury report this week with because of a foot injury, are questionable. Former
Chicago Bears safety Chris Harris could replace Delmas in the lineup Sunday if needed.
Donahue's MRI showed no major concerns and he said he would try to punt today. The Lions worked out Matt Dodge, Robert Malone and Glenn Pakulak (Lapeer East) in case Donahue can't play Sunday.
